From the counter

I was born on February 19, 1974 in Vrbas, to father Tomislav and mother Vukosava. I have an older sister. The two of us are completely different, opposite people. She finished FON, I'm acting. Growing up with them in no way influenced my decision to act. What's more, they always preferred that I choose something else. They are both health professionals, Dad had a gynaecology practice and mother was a radiologist, so they were far from that world. They didn't care at all when I got interested in acting. But since I was very restless and lively as a child, I needed some kind of outlet, extracurricular activities. Even to this day, in my area, they recount what I did. Once I pushed my head into a pot of soup, once I drove my father's car into the corn fields. It wasn't until school that I calmed down a bit. That's when I decided to act, with the help of teacher Milena, with whom I did my first play at school.

Instead of football

The first major role I played was Miroslav Krleža's Kekec Kerempuh. I don't remember any stage fright, it was a kind of game for me. I don't go to a game of marbles but to the theatre. I didn't like football, so I went to the "sports" side. Those were my beginnings as an actor, although I still didn't want to be an actor. I wanted to be a pilot or something. It wasn't until around the time of puberty that I broke down. And the role in the series "The Last Summer of My Childhood" brought me even closer to acting. In high school, I also started reciting and things slowly crystallized.

Survival

When I definitely decided on acting, I was lucky enough to enrol at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts for the first time. At the Academy, I learned what it means to live. I was in the class of Professor Milenko Maričić. I studied during the nineties when Serbia was barely making ends meet. I worked both as a waiter and in a video club, and one winter I prepared a play with the classics, Ivan Jevtović, Nataša Kličković and Sanja Mikitišin, which we performed in kindergartens. We even had a good income, although we were freezing, since we went from kindergarten to kindergarten by public transport, and at that time we had to wait for several hours for the bus.

In the zoo

Arriving in Belgrade was quite a traumatic experience for me. In the smaller environment where I came from, everyone knows each other, people are brought up differently, some other values are appreciated. It is completely different in the metropolis, especially since I studied and lived in New Belgrade. It was monotonous to me. I also started meeting some people I never dreamed existed. I was surprised by the reactions of some of them, who have an attitude towards people from a smaller background as if they had come to steal something from them. In addition, I did not know anyone in Belgrade, which made my situation even more difficult. However, at no point did I even think of giving up, and the classics helped me a lot to persevere. I realized that if I want to do my job the way I want, I have to live in a big city.

From boards to cameras

At the beginning of my career, I played a lot in the theatre, in the "Torpedo" troupe, in the Terazije Theater, then Theater T, and in the "Boško Buha" theatre. Buha was very important to me, especially the collaboration with Milan Karadzic, with whom I have been working a lot since the beginning and from whom, I can say, I learned a lot. I like working with all my colleagues from Buha, I get along well with everyone. When I was at the beginning, it seemed to me that I had more freedom in the theatre, but then I started filming a lot, and now I really can't make a mistake: I love both television and the big screen.

And you learn from the bad guys

I can't single out a single role as particularly dear, I find something challenging in each of them. I hear comments around me that the fact that I often play villains could affect my private life, in terms of how the environment will perceive me. But I really don't care about whether the audience will think that I am like that in private, that's my job. The people I associate with and who are important to me know what they can expect from me and what they can hope for.

An actor with a cheater

When I want to take a break from work, I hang out with my daughters. It always takes my mind off and cheers me up. Also, I love to ski and I have to admit I'm pretty good at it. Of course, I go out with my friends, but more than that I like to cook for them. I'm not one of those men who can only cook soup from a bag. Sometimes we also gather at Buha's buffet and everyone cooks something. It's one of my favourite ways to spend time.
